Mr John Pepper
John has over 30 years experience in the geospatial information industry specialising in data collection and management, policy and strategy development, new business development and marketing. He has held several senior management positions in the public sector in the UK and has board level experience.
His specialist knowledge lies in developing business and marketing strategy and planning and business change at both the management and technical level.
John trained as a land surveyor and spent over 25 years in a variety of disciplines including photo-interpretation and satellite imagery, triangulation and geodesy, global positioning systems (GPS), mapping and charting, project and programme management and technical and management training.
A career change into marketing in 1991 resulted in John being responsible for developing and managing new products and services in the business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) sectors; developed relationships with commercial and public sector partners delivering innovative geospatial solutions and setting up new companies to deliver valued added services.
John developed geospatial consultancy services and solutions aimed at the world-wide marine and coastal markets in the UK and overseas.
He is an active member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), a Chartered Marketer as well as being a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). He holds professional qualifications in Surveying Science and Geodesy and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and Strategic Planning.
John is a director of the UK Association for Geographic Information (AGI). He lives in Taunton and his interests include playing golf, cricket, walking and gardening.
